An unintentional Twitter beef recently erupted between Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift.
It all started when Nicki tweeted about her frustrations with MTV for not including her “Anaconda” video in the group of VMA nominations for Video of the Year.
She accused MTV of favoring music videos featuring women with slimmer frames unlike the voluptuous women shown in her “Anaconda” video.
"If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year. I'm not always confident. Just tired. Black women influence pop culture so much but are rarely rewarded for it,” Nicki tweeted.
And though Nicki only addressed MTV in her tweet, Taylor made the assumption that Nicki’s “slim body” reference was about her and replied with her own snarky tweet.
"@NICKIMINAJ I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..” Taylor responded.
Not one to back down from a shade fest, Nicki responded to Taylor tweeting, “U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u.”
Taylor then responded AGAIN—this time apologizing to Nicki and Nicki seemingly accepted Taylor’s apology.
“I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki,” Taylor tweeted while Nicki responded, “I've always loved her. Everyone makes mistakes. She gained so much more respect from me. Let's move on.”
Do you think Taylor and Nicki’s shade fest is really over or were they just playing nice?
