Janet Jackson Writes Heartfelt Message to Aaliyah on the Anniversary of her Death

On Tuesday, Aug. 25, Janet Jackson took to Twitter to post a heartfelt letter she wrote to Aaliyah on the14th anniversary of her death.

R&B singer Aaliyah died in a plane crash at 22 on Aug. 25, 2001. 

And though Aaliyah died at a very young age, she managed to created a longstanding legacy in the music industry and among her fans as displayed by the many  #ripAaliyah posts on Twitter and other social media platforms.

In the letter, Jackson expressed her love for Aaliyah and revealed that they both shared a “scared” and “everlasting” bond.

Sources say that Aaliyah had plans to work with Jackson on a musical collaboration prior to her death and often cited Jackson as one her biggest musical influences. Before her death Janet and Aaliyah also developed a budding friendship.

Bobby Brown’s Wife Rushed to the Hospital After Bobbi Kristina’s Funeral

Bobby Brown’s wife Alicia Etheredge was reportedly rushed to the hospital following his daughter Bobbi Kristina’s funeral. 

Bobby and Alicia attended Bobbi’s funeral on Saturday, Aug 1. and shortly after, Alicia began suffering from seizures in her hotel room. Thankfully, Alicia’s seizures were not severe and she was able to walk to the hospital on her own with little help. 

And though Alicia seems to be doing ok, things are far from fine between the Brown and Houston families who were both present for Bobbi Kristina’s funeral. 

Bobby Brown’s sister Leolah reportedly interrupted the funeral service to scream at Whitney’s sister Pat Houston.  

She reportedly yelled "Whitney is rolling over in her grave! You are so wrong for this, Pat!" and was escorted out of the ceremony. 

A little later, sources claim that Leolah was permitted to go back inside. 

Our prayers go out to Bobbi Kristina. May she rest in peace.

“R. Kelly Announces Upcoming Album Release Date”

After teasing fans with the announcement of an upcoming album titled “Buffet,” R. Kelly has finally revealed the album release date- September 25th. Kelly stated that “Buffet” will be a mix of all of his past work in one album. A full buffet if you will. His last album “Black Panties” had some great buzz, but it seems that fans may enjoy this a bit more since he intends on giving you a taste of your favorite R. Kelly classics. He will also be holding a concert at the Barclay’s Center the night of the album release.

K Michelle and Azealia Banks Cancel Joint Tour

….Well, more like K. Michelle made the decision to cancel their joint tour. 

On Thursday July 30, Azealia Banks took to Twitter to announce that K. Michelle had emailed her to say that she would not be able to tour as planned. 

Azealia then went on to say that with or without K. Michelle, she plans to reschedule some tour dates as this will be her first tour in the U.S.

So what caused the abrupt cancellation?

Well, before you make assumptions that Azealia and K. don’t get along, K. Michelle quickly shut down any potential rumors with a long Instagram message explaining that she and Azealia are still good friends despite the tour cancellation. 

K. Michelle blamed her busy schedule and overworking herself as the reasons for the cancellation.And though K. did not provide fans with an exact date for her tour relaunch, she did tease that fans will get to hear her musical collaboration with Azealia Banks. 

Although it’s unfortunate that K. and Azalea cancelled their tour so abruptly, it is nice to see that there is no drama between these two. Comradery among women in entertainment is so rarely seen or shown publicly, so it’s great that these two can still respect each other despite it all.

Mariah Carey to Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

It’s about time! 

Mariah Carey will FINALLY be receiving at star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Aug.5. 

Though she is a successful music icon with over two decades of experience in the music business, she is only now just getting her time to shine on the Walk of Fame.

On Monday, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced that Mariah will get the 2,556th star next week. Lee Daniels, Brett Ratner, and L.A. Reid will reportedly be guest speakers at Mariah’s Hollywood Walk of Fame event.

Congrats to Mariah on her long overdue feat!
