The 5 Keys to Happiness
I’m personally at a point in my life where I’m genuinely happy. Apparently I’ve been told that “I’m glowing from the inside, outward.”
I’ve also been asked what’s the keys to happiness for me.
Honestly, It’s a culmination of things.
I literally got into a mode of gratitude for even the smallest things. I continue to keep in mind that some people are not as blessed as you but you need to pray for them anyway. “…blessed is the least of these…” something I remembered from Ash Wednesday mass last week.
Anyway, enough of my rambling, I got the keys to happiness!
The Keys:
1. Practice an attitude of gratitude. Try not complain about the things, situations, opportunities, or people you don’t have. Say a word of thanks every day for little things. Perfect example, when you wake up, before you check your phone for emails, texts, or social media notifications, open your eyes & just give a word of thanks. Think about it like this, you were able to have full movement & activity of your whole body, somebody across the street, across your city, or across the world didn’t. Every new day that we are given on this earth is another chance at making life better. Be grateful.
2. Mind your own business. With this being the era of social media & keeping up with everyone & what they’re doing, we sometimes get distracted by what others are doing instead of minding our own business. Focus on what you need to do physically, mentally, emotionally, & spiritually to not only elevate your life but to bring the people up in your tribe. You are not in competition with anybody, not even yourself. Still mind your own business. You’ll thank me for this later, I promise.
3. Live in the present. Don’t be so hasty in recording or capturing moments for social media or other people that you forget to live in that particular moment. I’ve gotten better at this. I used to do this a lot. I’m at the point where I’m taking time to live in the moment & becoming one with it. Living with the notion that when I’m an accomplished, old writer & living on my property close to Lake Pontchatrain (manifesting this life) I can recount the moments that made my life with my loved ones. Live with each breath.
4. Move with intention. Everyday that you wake up. Vow to move with intention. I promise you will be so fulfilled. I write down my intentions with every new moon, new month, new week, & full moon phase. Move with a goal in mind that you can be proud of. Say a word over yourself, the Universe would do the rest of the heavy lifting.
5. Speak to yourself, the way you would want a lover to speak to you. Speak to yourself positively. Speak as if you are a lover, because let’s face it, you are. You are the lover of yourself. Speak things over yourself. Choose words like love, kind, light, joy, peace, beautiful, & hopeful. Say phrases like “You got this!” or as some of my Louisiana friends say, “Girl, you fine as frog hair!” You have to uplift yourself!
I’ll leave you with this, live a life that when it’s all over, you can smile because you lived a life that’s full of joy, love, & happiness!
